The Association of Teesdale Day Clubs has been operating for over 25 years and has functioned as a registered charity since 2000. Our Patron is Lady Barnard.
There are currently 8 semi-autonomous clubs operating across Teesdale, supporting about 200 members (beneficiaries). The clubs meet in Barnard Castle, Cotherstone, Evenwood, Mickleton, Middleton in Teesdale, Staindrop, Winston and Woodland.
Each club is supported by volunteers (totalling about 100 across the 8 clubs) and by 12 part-time staff positions comprising club leaders, chefs and administrative roles.
The Association has grown to meet demand with an increase from 126 members in 2001 to approximately 215 in 2020. The number of volunteers has increased from 51 in 2001, we consistently have between 80 and 90 volunteers every year.
In 2019 we held 501 sessions at which over 8,150 meals were provided.
