Considering volunteering?

Volunteering has always been central to our delivery and what we offer to our community.

We could not run any of our clubs, groups or activities without their help and support.

Volunteering is an opportunity to connect with other like-minded people in your community, a chance to feel like you are ‘giving something back’, and potentially a way to gain new skills and experiences that you can take forward into other roles or jobs. It’s also a great way to make new friends and find a new outlook on life.

Our volunteering opportunities are all flexible and many will be very close to home for people living right across Teesdale. Many of our volunteers walk to their volunteering time. Some people volunteer every week, and others just once a month – and everything in between.

We can promise you a warm and supportive welcome and environment, and an opportunity to spend time with others who care about their community, and about each other.

How to volunteer

To become a volunteer, we do need you to complete a simple application form and provide two references from non-family members. For some volunteer roles we may also require a DBS check and/or proof of car insurance (when your volunteering involves taking people in your car e.g. as a volunteer driver). We also need you to understand our policies and be willing to abide by our Code of Conduct.

All these requirements are about making sure that everyone is safe: that you are protected and feel safe in your volunteering role, and that everyone you come into contact with can feel assured that as a charity we do not expose anyone to avoidable risks to their wellbeing or personal safety.

Anyone who needs help with the written element of these requirements will be supported and we will always do our best to be alongside you to remove any barriers to volunteering that you experience.
