Meet the team – Trustees

Gordon Thompson
Gordon has lived in Teesdale since 1990 and retired from GSK in 2017. Bringing wide experience in Project Management he became a Trustee with us in 2018, and volunteered to be our chairperson in 2021, continuing as Chair when we changed our governance to be a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Gordon is also a trustee with Teesdale Opportunities for Disabled Youngsters (TODYS) and loves to be out on the gold course, walking or gardening.
Peter McGuinness
Peter returned to his Co Durham roots and moved to Teesdale in 2014, retiring from his busy management career in the Paper and Recycling industry in 2016 where he was the CEO of a European Division for DSS. Peter remains active in the business world, offering mentorship to CEOs and others. Bringing a wealth of management and project management experience to our Board, Peter is our Vice Chairperson and offers mentoring support to our Strategic Manager.
A keen sportsman in his past, he now plays the odd round of golf but mostly loves to be walking in Teesdale with his dogs.
Annie Dolphin
Annie has lived in Teesdale since 1999 moving here for her job with HM Revenue & Customs where she worked for over 30 years and was awarded her OBE whilst Deputy Change Director in 2002. Annie joined our Board in 2016 and became Treasurer in 2019. Having retired from HM R&C in 2006 and taken up non-executive and lay-person roles within the Primary Care Trust and NHS in the Co Durham area, she remains busy within the NHS both on a contracted and voluntary basis. She is also a trustee for Winston Village Hall, and Point North. Annie loves to be in her garden and is known for her surplus produce at the end of the growing season.
David Bailey
Dave has lived in Teesdale since 2007 after retiring from his career in Medical Physics and working as a senior manager in hospital environments in charge of IT and telephony. His experiences of managing teams and complex systems makes him a valuable member of our Board, as well as bringing his experiences as an active member of his church, bellringing, Mickleton Village Hall, and with the Teesdale Village Hall Consortium. Dave is our Safeguarding Lead trustee and a regular member of his local Mickleton lunch club.
Sue Bainbridge
Sue has been on the Board since 2014 and having retired from GSK in 2008, is an active member of the Middleton-in-Teesdale community. Having worked with the Air Ambulance, she now volunteers as an Ambulance Car Service driver with NEAS. She volunteers regularly at our Middleton lunch club and is also a volunteer Community First Responder. Sue loves to keep fit and healthy, leading Zumba classes, and a gentle exercise group for Parkinsons UK and Dementia, locally. She also loves to walk and is often accompanied by others who do not want to walk on their own. Sue brings a practical community-focused experience and viewpoint to the Board.
Hazel Rayner
Hazel volunteered to be a Board member in 2020 after working with us in her role at the community transport charity in Co Durham ‘Supportive’. Having run her own financial business, as well as had a varied career in complex administration management roles, Hazel is an asset bringing practical, and systems-focused experience to our team, she has an eagle-eye for detail and sits on our policy and HR task group. She works full-time at HM Prison Deerbolt, and lives in Barnard Castle.
Club Leaders, Chefs & Cooks
Alison Sayer
Alison Sayer has been cooking at the lunch clubs for over 15 years and is well-loved for her baking. A traditional and steady cook, Alison is always popular at our lunch clubs.
Gill Ball
Gill Ball has been a lunch club leader on and off for over 10 years and is now a very experienced and popular leader. She lives locally and currently runs 3 lunch clubs.
Jean Hunter
Jean Hunter joined us in 2024 and brings a wealth of experience from her background as a mental health nurse.
Janette (Hattie) Kindleyside
Hattie joined us in 2023 and is a lively and popular member of our team. She started with 1 club and now runs 3, bringing fantastic knowledge from her career in proving care to older people.
Mark
Mark wears two hats with us, being a Club Leader and Chef at 3 clubs across the area. As a professional chef (formerly for HRH Queen Elizabeth II) Mark’s meals and gentle personality are a favourite.
Owen Moody
Owen Moody joined us in 2023 on a casual basis to help when other staff were on leave and is now on our permanent staff team. A professional chef with a big personality and larger heart, he loves providing quality food with a smile.
Tracey Turnbull
Tracey Turnbull has been with the charity for over 15 years and has been both a club leader and a chef over that time. Currently cooking at 4 clubs, she is a mainstay on our team and brings all her experience and knowledge to every club meeting.
Meet The Team In The Office
Andrea Hobbs - Strategic Manager
Andrea has worked at Teesdale Day Clubs since 2019. Her 20 year career in charity management and development, and as a volunteer Trustee, means she brings a wealth of experience and skill to Teesdale.
Andrea is passionate about working in the voluntary sector and loves living in Teesdale.
Pat Asquith - Finance Administrator, Staff & Volunteer
Originally from a banking background, Pat joined the charity in 2002. She helps with our finance by keeping our books, running the payroll, managing our banking, and being an all-round fantastic human being! She also sometimes steps in as a Club Leader at a lunch club when we’re short-handed!
Tracy Taylor - Operations and Club Co-ordinator
Tracy joined the Day Clubs in February 2011 as Administrator after a long career at GSK, and is now responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the lunch club service as well as managing our office. She ensures that the club team are supported, that all our Health and Safety and Environmental Health procedures are up to date and compliant, and she maintains close working relationships with the community venues we use.
Amanda Raine - General Manager & Community Worker
Amanda joined the Day Clubs in 2024 bringing her skills and knowledge in safeguarding and social care, as well as project management, to our small team. Amanda is adept at finding out about all those services and local support and care mechanisms that remain hidden, or are difficult to negotiate and access, and no challenge is too big or small for her to tackle. She visits people at home to help with a wide array of support issues.
