Dear   (Individual addressee)

As Patron of the Association of Teesdale Day Clubs I would be enormously grateful if you could find the time to read this letter.

Our Association has been supporting older people in rural Teesdale for over 20 years by providing opportunities for social interaction so reducing the effects of loneliness on health and wellbeing.  This support also enables older people in Teesdale to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.  You will no doubt be aware of the negative impact of social isolation on our ageing population highlighted by the media.

We have grown over the years from just two clubs to ten, within different local Teesdale communities.  Each Club provides three hours of social interaction each week including a delicious and nutritious three course lunch, cooked on the premises, and paid for by the members.  Our members chat amongst themselves as well as sharing any worries and concerns. Entertainment and trips outside the local area are offered and also advice about health and other important issues.  Each club has a paid Club Leader and Cook, supported by three part-time office staff and many local volunteers who help serve lunches and wash up!

Over the years we have been fortunate with our funding provided by several organisations but this is now becoming far more difficult to source.  As a result we are seeking help to maintain these services through sponsorship from local Teesdale businesses.

If you would consider making an annual or one-off contribution to support our vital work we would be grateful. Your generosity will be advertised and acknowledged on our website if you wish.  Please contact our Manager, Madeleine Walton on 01833 695822, e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., if you are willing to support our Association in this way, or need any additional information.

This is such a worthwhile cause and we must ensure its continued success.  I do hope that you will give us your support.

Yours sincerely

Lady Barnard
